Abu Dhabi Hub71 Brings In 13 New AI Startups as Emirates Builds Global Tech Powerhouse

The emirate’s flagship tech ecosystem Hub71 secured 13 new artificial intelligence companies in just six months, numbering its total AI startup count to 53 companies.

The latest includes startups from multiple countries, each bringing specialized AI solutions to Abu Dhabi’s growing tech ecosystem. This growth comes as the emirate positions itself as the Middle East’s premier destination for AI innovation.

Hub71 AI Startup Numbers Jump to 53 Companies

The 13 new AI-focused companies joined Hub71 during the first half of 2025, according to CEO Ahmad Ali Alwan. These startups represent what Hub71 calls “top entrepreneurial talent from around the world.”

The complete list of new AI companies includes Aurem, CambioML, Fundbot Technologies, Mithry, New Path Bio, Nodeshift, Onloop, Redbrick, Simpleem, Skipr, Vivan Therapeutics, xMap, and Vaxo.

Each company brings different AI applications, from healthcare solutions to financial technology and enterprise software. Hub71 provides these startups with mentorship programs, market access, and pathways for regional and global expansion.

Abu Dhabi AI Ecosystem Shows Record Growth Numbers

The emirate’s broader AI sector tells an even bigger growth story. Abu Dhabi now hosts 673 AI companies, representing a 61% increase from June 2023 to June 2024, according to Abu Dhabi Chamber data.

The first half of 2025 alone saw 150 new AI companies launch in Abu Dhabi. This puts the emirate ahead of other regional tech hubs and places it among the fastest-growing AI centers globally.

Globally, approximately 90,904 AI companies exist as of 2024. Abu Dhabi’s 673 AI companies represent a significant concentration within this landscape, especially for a single city.

Hub71 Funding Success Creates Strong Foundation

Hub71’s track record with startup funding helps explain why AI companies choose Abu Dhabi. The ecosystem’s startups raised a record $2.17 billion in 2024, marking a 44.7% increase from the previous year’s $1.5 billion Hub71.

The Hub71+ AI program offers specific support for artificial intelligence companies. Startups receive AED 250,000 worth of in-kind services plus AED 250,000 in cash through SAFE notes. High-performing companies can access additional funding up to AED 250,000 Hub71.

Strategic Partners Drive AI Innovation Forward

Hub71’s AI ecosystem benefits from partnerships with major tech companies and research institutions. Key partners include AI71, Core42, Amazon Web Services, Nvidia, Google for Startups, and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence.

These partnerships provide AI startups with access to advanced computing power, technical resources, and pilot project opportunities. The collaboration creates direct pathways for startups to test their technologies in real-world settings.

Ahmad Ali Alwan explains that Hub71 “plays a critical role in scaling these businesses by offering mentorship, facilitating market access, and creating pathways for global expansion.”

UAE Government Support Accelerates AI Growth

Abu Dhabi’s AI success stems from strategic government investment and progressive legislation. The emirate offers advanced infrastructure specifically designed for AI companies, plus regulatory frameworks that support innovation.

The combination of government backing, private investment, and international partnerships creates what industry observers call a “thriving investment climate” for AI development.

This government approach helps explain why Abu Dhabi emerged as the fastest-growing center for artificial intelligence in the MENA region. The strategy focuses on building a complete ecosystem rather than just attracting individual companies.

Global Competition for AI Talent Intensifies

Abu Dhabi’s AI startup attraction occurs amid fierce global competition for artificial intelligence talent and companies. Major tech hubs worldwide are launching similar programs to capture AI innovation.

However, Abu Dhabi’s unique combination of funding availability, government support, and strategic location gives it advantages in attracting companies looking to access both Western and Middle Eastern markets.

The 13 new AI startups joining Hub71 come from various countries, showing the international appeal of Abu Dhabi’s tech ecosystem. Each company brings different expertise areas, from biotechnology to enterprise software solutions.

As AI adoption accelerates worldwide, Abu Dhabi’s continued success in attracting and nurturing these companies positions the emirate at the center of the global digital economy transformation.
