Udemy Targets 300 Million Arabic Speakers With New AI Learning Platform

Udemy just launched its platform in Arabic, opening doors for over 300 million Arabic speakers across the Middle East and North Africa to access AI-powered skills training. The San Francisco-based company announced this expansion on August 14, 2025, targeting one of the world’s fastest-growing education markets.

The MENA e-learning sector surges toward $35.76 billion by 2030, driven by a 12.8% annual growth rate. Udemy’s Arabic platform includes more than 7,000 courses covering AI, cloud computing, leadership, and communication skills. Areas critical for workforce development in the region.

Arabic Platform Addresses Skills Gap In High-Growth Market

Over one million learners already enrolled in Arabic-language courses on Udemy before this full platform launch. The localized experience removes language barriers that previously limited access to professional development resources in the region.

“Language should never be a barrier to professional growth,” said Hugo Sarrazin, Udemy’s President and CEO. Sarrazin, who joined from UKG after spending 27 years at McKinsey, has been leading Udemy’s international expansion since March 2025.

The Arabic platform targets professionals seeking skills in emerging technologies. Dr. Ryan Ahmed, an Udemy instructor and CEO of Stemplicity, created an “Artificial Intelligence from Beginner to Professional” course specifically for Arabic-speaking learners.

Enterprise Customers Drive Platform Adoption

Udemy currently serves 17,100 business customers globally, generating $520 million in annual recurring revenue from its enterprise division. Major companies including Ericsson, Samsung SDS America, Tata Consultancy Services, The World Bank, and Volkswagen use Udemy Business for workforce development.

The Arabic launch extends this reach into MENA markets where organizations invest in digital skills training. The platform’s AI-powered personalization adapts content delivery based on individual learning patterns and progress.

Arabic Language Learning Market Shows Strong Growth

The Arabic language learning market reached $4.78 billion in 2025 and projects 17.32% annual growth through 2030. This expansion reflects growing demand for Arabic language skills globally, while also highlighting the need for Arabic-language professional development platforms.

The UAE leads regional e-learning adoption with advanced digital infrastructure and high internet penetration rates. Saudi Arabia’s online learning platform market expects to reach $163.07 million in 2025, showing strong regional appetite for digital education.

AI Technology Powers Personalized Learning Experience

Udemy’s Arabic platform leverages artificial intelligence to customize learning paths for individual users. The system analyzes completion rates, quiz performance, and engagement patterns to suggest relevant courses and adjust content difficulty.

This AI-driven approach addresses varying skill levels across the 300 million Arabic speakers worldwide, who represent diverse educational backgrounds and professional experience levels across 22 countries.

Middle East Workforce Development Becomes Priority

Regional governments prioritize workforce development as economies diversify away from oil dependence. The UAE’s Vision 2071 and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 both emphasize human capital development and digital transformation.

Udemy’s Arabic platform supports these initiatives by providing accessible professional training in high-demand areas like artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital marketing. The platform’s enterprise solutions help companies implement structured upskilling programs for their workforce.

Global Competition Intensifies For MENA Education Market

The Middle East education market reached $134.66 billion in 2024 and projects growth to $237.20 billion by 2032. Online education specifically forecasts reaching $175 billion by 2027 across the region.

Major global education providers now compete for market share in MENA regions. Udemy’s Arabic localization gives it advantages over platforms offering only English-language content, particularly for enterprise customers seeking culturally relevant training materials.

Platform Features Arabic Interface With Cultural Adaptation

The localized Udemy platform provides full Arabic language navigation, course descriptions, and user interface elements. Content creators can publish courses in Arabic, expanding the library beyond translated materials to culturally specific professional development resources.

Arabic-language courses now cover business communication styles common in MENA regions, local regulatory compliance training, and industry-specific skills relevant to regional markets. This cultural adaptation goes beyond simple translation to address specific professional development needs.

Next Steps For Regional Expansion

Udemy’s Arabic launch represents the first phase of broader Middle East expansion plans. The company operates globally with offices in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico, and Turkey, indicating potential for additional regional hubs.

The platform tracks user engagement metrics from the Arabic launch to inform future localization efforts and content development priorities. Early adoption patterns will guide expansion into other regional languages and specialized course categories.

Access to Udemy’s Arabic platform begins immediately at udemy.com with Arabic language selection. Enterprise customers can contact Udemy Business for organization-wide implementation and customized training programs.
