Superpower Raises $30M to Help Users Take Control of Their Health

Superpower, a health-focused startup, has officially launched the world’s first health super-app, aiming to help people take proactive control of their well-being. Backed by a $30 million Series A funding round led by Forerunner and joined by investors like Day One Ventures, Susa Ventures, and celebrities such as Vanessa Hudgens, Steve Aoki, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, Superpower is stepping into the market with big ambitions.

For $499 per year, Superpower offers biannual lab testing that analyzes more than 100 blood biomarkers across 21 categories. These tests are far more detailed than a standard physical exam and are available either at home or at one of the company’s 2,000 partner labs nationwide.

The results are combined with users’ past medical records, fitness tracker data, and genetic information. Using AI, the platform then generates a personalized health overview and an action plan to help users address potential health issues before symptoms arise.

Building a Lifelong Health Partner

Jacob Peters, Max Marchione, and Kevin Unkrich founded Superpower in 2023, inspired by personal experiences navigating serious health issues. Peters nearly lost his life after spending $2 million dealing with undiagnosed conditions. Marchione faced years of misdiagnoses from over 20 doctors. Unkrich lost a close friend to a brain tumor that could have been detected earlier. These stories reflect a broader reality: about 40% of Americans live with conditions that could have been managed with earlier intervention.

“There’s this big gap between the best of healthcare and what most people have access to. We believed that for as long as that gap exists, someone needs to close it. New technologies like AI have made that possible.” Marchione said in an interview.

Beyond just blood testing, Superpower aims to become the new “front door” to the healthcare system. Users receive a Superpower Score and Biological Age tracking to monitor their progress and identify areas for improvement. They also have access to an integrated marketplace of healthcare providers and a 24/7 AI-enhanced concierge team for personalized health support.

“This is really just where the journey starts. Instead of dealing with the fragmented healthcare system, Superpower brings everything under one roof, becoming a lifelong health partner.” Peters explained.

Bridging the Gap Between Data and Action

The company’s approach addresses a common frustration: fragmented medical records scattered across different systems. Superpower centralizes all health data in one place and offers easy-to-understand insights. The platform’s personalized protocols help users understand everything from nutrient levels and hormone balance to metabolic health risks associated with cardiovascular disease, cancers, and neurodegenerative conditions.

Additional specialty testing, such as gut microbiome analysis and Grail cancer screenings, are also available for members who want deeper insights.

“Everyone deserves to understand what’s happening in their body without a medical degree. Our platform puts comprehensive blood testing and health insights directly into people’s hands, ending the era of confusing lab results.” – Jacob Peters.

A New Era for Preventive Healthcare

Superpower’s is shifting healthcare from a reactive model to a proactive one. Instead of waiting for symptoms, people can use their health data to prevent problems before they start.

“There are a billion Google searches every day about health. Many people turn to ChatGPT or Google when they should be getting real, personalized care. Superpower wants to be the first place they go instead.”

Currently accessible through a web app, Superpower plans to roll out iOS and Android apps soon. With over 150,000 people already on the waitlist, the company is now expanding access to meet growing demand.
