Dubai Health Authority Integrates AI into NABIDH to Secure Patient Data

DHA NABIDH AI integration for patient data security

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced a major update to its healthcare digitalisation efforts by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its NABIDH system. The move, made in partnership with Imprivata, is designed to enhance the security and privacy of patient information across Dubai’s healthcare network.

NABIDH (Network and Analysis Backbone for Integrated Dubai Health), plays a key role in DHA’s strategy to modernise healthcare services. The system ensures every patient has a single, unified electronic medical record that can be accessed securely by all authorised healthcare providers in Dubai.

A New Chapter for Digital Health in Dubai

This milestone not only reflects DHA’s leadership in digital health but also supports Dubai’s broader goal of becoming the smartest city in the world. Officials highlighted that AI integration would make healthcare systems more efficient, secure, and sustainable, helping to shape the future of medical services in the emirate.

The announcement was made at a special event attended by Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director-General of DHA, alongside healthcare leaders and technology experts. The gathering focused on the future of digital healthcare and Dubai’s strategic approach to data security.

Commitment to Patient Privacy and Innovation

Speaking at the event, Al Ketbi underlined the Authority’s commitment to protecting patient information using the latest technology.

“Integrating AI into the ‘NABIDH’ system demonstrates DHA’s dedication to establishing a safer, more efficient, and sustainable digital healthcare environment that meets patients’ evolving needs,” he said.

Al Ketbi also highlighted DHA’s focus on creating a comprehensive healthcare system aligned with the highest international standards for data protection. He stressed the importance of working with strategic partners to strengthen the sector’s digital infrastructure.

To date, DHA has successfully integrated more than 9.53 million patient records into the NABIDH system, linking over 1,500 healthcare facilities across Dubai. Approximately 82 percent of the city’s medical workforce is now actively using the platform, demonstrating the progress of Dubai’s digital health transformation.

AI’s Role in Protecting Patient Data

The upgraded NABIDH system uses AI-powered analytics to monitor for unauthorized access in real time. This proactive approach helps detect and prevent potential data breaches, reinforcing trust between healthcare providers and patients.

The integration marks another step forward in DHA’s mission to create a secure, connected, and future-ready healthcare environment for Dubai’s residents.
