Vertiv Expands Liquid Cooling Portfolio with Immersion Solution for AI and HPC

Vertiv Data Centers

Vertiv has introduced a new immersion cooling system designed to support the growing demands of artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC). The launch marks a major step in how data centres manage heat as computing power intensifies across AI and cloud workloads.

Designed for the Next Era of Compute

The new solution, known as Vertiv CoolCenter Immersion, is built to handle the extreme thermal loads of modern data centres. It allows servers to be fully submerged in a dielectric fluid that absorbs and dissipates heat efficiently, far beyond what traditional air cooling systems can achieve.

Available in capacities ranging from 25 kW to 240 kW, the system supports both standalone and multi-tank configurations. It also features advanced sensors, fluid monitoring, and connectivity options for centralised management.

According to Vertiv’s leadership, immersion cooling is becoming essential as AI and HPC push thermal limits that conventional systems can no longer handle.

Efficiency Meets Scalability

The technology enables higher compute density within smaller footprints. Removing the need for extensive air-conditioning infrastructure reduces power usage and operational costs. The system’s modular design allows operators to scale easily as workloads grow, making it suitable for both retrofitted facilities and new builds.

Beyond performance gains, immersion cooling improves energy efficiency and allows data centres to reuse waste heat.

Rethinking Cooling for the AI Age

Adopting immersion systems requires careful planning. Most existing data centres are built around air-cooled designs, so transitioning may involve staff training, infrastructure adjustments, and new maintenance routines. Server manufacturers must also ensure hardware is compatible with immersion environments.

While initial setup costs can be higher, Vertiv’s system aims to deliver a faster return on investment through long-term energy savings, higher density, and greater reliability for AI workloads.

Setting a New Benchmark in Thermal Management

With the launch of its CoolCenter Immersion platform, Vertiv is signalling a shift in how modern data centres approach cooling. As AI models grow larger and computing intensity increases, managing heat efficiently has become a critical enabler of innovation.

Immersion cooling is a necessity for organisations looking to stay ahead in the era of high-density computing. Vertiv’s latest solution places the company at the forefront of this transformation, offering data centres a clear path toward more efficient, scalable, and sustainable AI infrastructure.
