Did Lovable Just Secure Funding to Acquire Figma? The Rumor That Could Reshape Design and No-Code Development

Is a Disruptive Takeover on the Horizon?

Anton Osika, co-founder of Lovable, has set the tech world ablaze with a bold claim: “Funding secured to acquire Figma.”

For those unfamiliar with Lovable, this might seem like an outlandish statement. But Osika’s track record as a serial entrepreneur, AI innovator, and Y Combinator-backed founder suggests otherwise. If true, this move could dramatically alter the future of design, no-code automation, and AI-driven development.

With Figma having revolutionized UI/UX design, and Lovable positioning itself at the intersection of automation and software development, an acquisition—if successful—could signal a paradigm shift in the way digital products are created.

A Serious Move or a Strategic Bluff?

Figma was previously set to be acquired by Adobe for $20 billion, a deal that was ultimately blocked by regulators. Now, Osika’s announcement raises more questions than answers:

  • Does Lovable have the financial backing to buy Figma?
  • Could this be an advanced partnership rather than a full acquisition?
  • What does this mean for the future of design-to-code workflows?

Lovable’s Long-Standing Interest in Figma

Lovable has previously demonstrated a strong interest in Figma’s ecosystem. In January 2025, the company announced a native integration between Figma and Builder.io, streamlining design-to-development workflows.

This strategic move suggested that Lovable was deeply invested in bridging the gap between design and code, enabling AI-driven automation in software development. Given this background, a full-scale acquisition would make sense—allowing Lovable to build upon Figma’s collaborative design capabilities and merge them with its AI-powered automation.

Could This Be a Game-Changer for No-Code and AI?

If Lovable successfully acquires Figma, it would be one of the most significant shakeups in the design and development space since Adobe’s failed acquisition attempt.

This would:

  • Revolutionize design-to-code automation, making it easier for designers to convert UI mockups directly into working software.
  • Position Lovable as a major player in AI-driven software creation, competing with companies like Webflow, Framer, and Builder.io.
  • Challenge existing design paradigms, as AI-driven workflows become more central to how digital products are built.

What Comes Next?

So far, Osika has not provided further details on the funding source, deal structure, or official confirmation from Figma’s side. However, if the claim holds weight, the tech industry is about to witness one of the biggest acquisitions in recent years.

Whether this is a strategic bluff, an early-stage funding announcement, or an actual acquisition in motion, one thing is certain: Lovable is serious about disrupting how software is built, and Figma could be the missing piece in its vision.

For now, all eyes are on Anton Osika and Lovable. Is this the beginning of a new era in design and development? We’ll be watching closely.
