Women in Tech Leadership in India

The global tech industry is seeing a remarkable shift as Indian women take on influential leadership roles. Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India have played a significant role in providing opportunities for women to rise to top positions. With increasing representation in executive roles, women are challenging stereotypes and reshaping the narrative around gender diversity in technology.

Preeti Lobana – Country Manager and Vice President, Google India

In December 2024, Google appointed Preeti Lobana as the Country Manager and Vice President for its India operations. An alumna of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Lobana brings over three decades of experience spanning technology and finance.

Prior to this role, she served as Vice President of customer-centric solutions at Google, and has held leadership positions at NatWest Group, American Express, Standard Chartered Bank, and ANZ Grindlays Bank. Her appointment underscores Google’s commitment to leveraging AI advancements to drive digital inclusion and economic opportunities in India.

Arundhati Bhattacharya – Chairperson and CEO, Salesforce India

Arundhati Bhattacharya, the first woman to lead the State Bank of India, transitioned to the tech industry as Chairperson and CEO of Salesforce India.

In December 2024, Salesforce announced the consolidation of its India and ASEAN operations into a unified ‘South Asia Operating Unit‘ under Bhattacharya’s leadership, effective February 2025. This strategic move aims to harness synergies across the region, with Bhattacharya at the helm to drive growth and innovation.

Sandhya Devanathan – Vice President and Head, Meta India

Sandhya Devanathan leads Meta’s operations in India, bringing a wealth of experience from her previous roles within the company, including Vice President of Gaming for the Asia-Pacific region. Her leadership is pivotal as Meta continues to expand its presence in India.

Irina Ghose – Chief Operating Officer, Microsoft India

Irina Ghose serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft India, overseeing the company’s operations and strategic initiatives in the region. Her role is crucial in driving Microsoft’s mission to empower every person and organization in India to achieve more.

Sindhu Gangadharan – Senior Vice President and Managing Director, SAP Labs India

Sindhu Gangadharan holds the position of Senior Vice President and Managing Director at SAP Labs India. She is also the Vice Chairperson of NASSCOM, contributing significantly to India’s technology ecosystem.

Daisy Chittilapilly – President, Cisco India & SAARC

Daisy Chittilapilly leads Cisco’s operations in India and the SAARC region. Her focus on digital transformation and innovation is instrumental in driving Cisco’s growth and impact in the region.

Lalitha Indrakanti – Head of Digital and Information Technology, Jaguar Land Rover

Lalitha Indrakanti oversees digital and IT strategies at Jaguar Land Rover, playing a key role in the company’s technological advancements and digital initiatives.

Gangapriya Chakraverti – Director, Ford Global Business Services

Gangapriya Chakraverti leads Ford’s Global Business Services in India, managing operations that support the company’s global strategies and business processes.

Roshni Nadar-Malhotra – Chairperson, HCL Technologies

Roshni Nadar-Malhotra is the Chairperson of HCL Technologies and is recognized as India’s wealthiest woman. Under her leadership, HCL continues to be a global leader in IT services, with a strong emphasis on innovation and sustainability.

Shalini Kapoor – Chief Technologist, Amazon Web Services India

Shalini Kapoor is India’s first woman IBM Fellow and currently serves as the Chief Technologist for Amazon Web Services (AWS) India. She leads strategy and thought leadership on AI infusion across all offerings.

Known for incubating next-gen solutions, her focus includes creating AI solutions that address climate risk, sustainability, and promoting women’s participation in STEM. She holds 14 patents and is a published author and speaker.
