UAE Rolls Out AI Assistant That Handles 80% of HR Tasks for 50,000 Government Workers

The United Arab Emirates just deployed one of the most advanced government AI systems. The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) launched an AI-powered assistant that serves over 50,000 federal employees across all UAE ministries and agencies.

The AI assistant automates 80% of employee self-service HR procedures and responds instantly to 80% of HR legal inquiries. Government workers can access 108 different services through voice or text in both Arabic and English without any human help.

This deployment saves approximately 170,000 working hours annually in technical and legal support. Federal employees completed over one million self-managed HR procedures last year through existing digital platforms. The new AI system will likely push that number much higher in 2025 and 2026.

Government Workers Get 24/7 AI Support Across All Federal Agencies

The HR AI assistant connects directly to the federal government’s Human Resources Information Management System called “Bayanati.” It reads and analyzes employee data to provide accurate, personalized responses to each worker’s specific situation.

Federal employees access the system anytime through FAHR’s website or the FAHR mobile app. The AI handles everything from leave requests to training applications and salary inquiries.

Minister of State for Government Development and the Future Ohood Al Roumi said the launch reflects the UAE leadership’s vision of using AI to transform government human resources. She noted that the government will continue to innovate with advanced technology models to enhance services and move user experiences into the future.

AI Assistant Uses Advanced Agent Technology for Complex Tasks

The system runs on generative AI with agent capabilities. This means it can execute complex tasks, process procedures, and complete transactions on behalf of employees rather than just answering questions.

FAHR Director General Faisal AL Mheiri explained that the AI assistant operates through continuous learning. It acquires knowledge and skills through daily interactions with employees. This makes its responses more accurate over time.

The system represents a practical application of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031, which will make the UAE a global AI hub and increase AI adoption across all industries.

UAE Leads Middle East in Government AI Deployment Scale

This deployment represents one of the largest government AI implementations in the Middle East region. While other countries experiment with AI pilots, the UAE deployed a full-scale system serving 50,000 employees from day one.

The success of this HR AI assistant could serve as a model for other UAE government departments. Similar AI agents may soon handle functions in healthcare, education, transportation, and other public services.

Government AI adoption in the UAE moves faster than most countries due to strong leadership support and significant technology investment. The UAE established a dedicated AI Ministry and allocated substantial resources to achieve its 2031 AI strategy goals.

Federal employees can now complete most HR tasks without waiting for human assistance or navigating complex bureaucratic processes. This efficiency gain frees up government workers to focus on higher-value activities that require human judgment and creativity.
