Batelco, a key player in Bahrain’s telecom industry and part of the Beyon Group, has partnered with Ericsson to expand its 4G and 5G networks across the country. This initiative enhances connectivity for consumers and businesses by leveraging advanced, energy-efficient solutions and cloud-native technologies.

With Bahrain’s increasing demand for faster, more reliable mobile broadband, Batelco and Ericsson’s collaboration ensures superior network performance, optimized coverage, and improved digital experiences for users.

Key Highlights of the Expansion

  • Enhanced Network Coverage: Strengthening mobile broadband capabilities nationwide.
  • Energy-Efficient Solutions: Reducing environmental impact with innovative radio access technology.
  • Cloud-Native Technologies: Improving scalability, efficiency, and future-proofing operations.

Deployment of Ericsson’s Advanced RAN Products

To boost Bahrain’s mobile connectivity, Batelco has deployed Ericsson’s Radio Access Network (RAN) products, including Massive MIMO antennas. These antennas significantly enhance network performance by increasing spectral efficiency and coverage.

Additionally, Batelco has modernized its Ericsson Core Network Infrastructure, integrating the latest Network Function Virtualization Infrastructure (NFVI) release. This upgrade enables greater capacity to handle the growing demand for voice and data services, ensuring seamless communication.

Energy-Efficient Solutions for Sustainable Connectivity

Batelco’s expansion prioritizes sustainability by adopting dual-mode triple band radios and Interleaved AIR 3218 solutions.

These innovations:

  • Reduce the physical space required on telecom towers.
  • Decrease overall tower load.
  • Cut energy consumption by up to 20%, enhancing operational efficiency.

Modernizing the Network with Cloud-Native Technologies

The adoption of Ericsson’s latest cloud-native Mediation platform marks a significant step in Batelco’s digital transformation.

This modernization enhances:

  • Scalability: Meeting the ever-growing data demands of users.
  • Operational Efficiency: Streamlining processes and optimizing network resources.
  • IoT and 5G Standalone Applications: Enabling seamless integration for emerging technologies.

Batelco’s upgraded mediation platform supports many of applications, ensuring rapid data processing and an improved time-to-market for new digital services.
