MWC Doha 2025: Qatar to Host First Middle East Mobile World Congress

The Mobile World Congress (MWC), the planet’s most influential connectivity event, is coming to Doha for the first time ever. MWC25 Doha will take place November 25-26, 2025, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. This is the GSMA’s flagship event that typically draws over 100,000 attendees and generates billions in business deals worldwide.

Tech Giants Flood Doha with Major Announcements Expected

Over 200 exhibitors have already confirmed attendance, with 80% coming from international markets. The confirmed lineup reads like a who’s who of global tech: Cisco, Dell, Google Cloud, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Huawei, Microsoft, Nokia, Ooredoo, PwC, Vodafone, and ZTE.

More than 200 speakers from 60 countries will present, with over 40% holding director-level positions or higher. This concentration of decision-makers typically leads to major product launches and strategic partnerships worth billions.

The event will feature three core themes that are reshaping global business: AI Nexus, Intelligent Economies, and Connected Industries. These represent the technologies currently driving the most investment and innovation worldwide.

Qatar’s $2.4 Billion AI Investment Attracts Global Attention

Qatar recently announced a massive $2.4 billion incentive package to boost AI capabilities and accelerate digital transformation. This investment is already paying dividends in attracting global tech partnerships and establishing Qatar as a regional innovation hub.

The country’s Digital Agenda 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030 provide the strategic framework driving this transformation. “MWC25 Doha is a strategic milestone in achieving these goals,” said H.E. Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Qatar’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

Regional Tech Hub Status Within Reach

The Gulf region is experiencing unprecedented growth in 5G deployment, smart city initiatives, and AI adoption. Qatar’s advanced digital infrastructure and strategic location position it perfectly to serve as the regional headquarters for global tech companies.

MWC Doha will also feature 4YFN (Four Years From Now), the world’s leading startup-investor marketplace, making its MENA debut. New ventures in the region raised over $2 billion in the first half of 2025 alone, signaling massive investor confidence in Middle Eastern innovation.

Smart City Technology Takes Center Stage

The event will showcase Qatar’s smart city initiatives through Smart City Expo Doha, a spin-off from the world’s leading urban transformation event. Qatar’s investments in IoT, 5G networks, and AI-powered city services are creating a blueprint that other regional governments are eager to replicate.

These technologies are already operational across Doha’s infrastructure. From traffic management systems to energy-efficient buildings, Qatar is demonstrating how connectivity transforms entire urban ecosystems.

Registration Opens as Global Interest Surges

Registration is now open for MWC25 Doha, with early indicators showing strong international demand. The event spans three halls at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, featuring exhibition space, conference tracks, ministerial programs, and networking opportunities.

The GSMA has signed five Memoranda of Understanding with local partners including Communications Regulatory Authority, Qatar University, Media City Qatar, Ooredoo, and Vodafone, ensuring strong local support and participation.

For global tech companies, MWC Doha represents a crucial opportunity to establish Middle East strategies and partnerships. For Qatar, it’s validation of the country’s transformation into a global tech destination that can compete with established hubs like Singapore and Dubai.

The convergence of global expertise, regional investment, and government backing creates conditions that typically produce breakthrough innovations and business partnerships. November’s event will reveal whether Qatar can leverage this opportunity to position itself as the Middle East’s premier tech hub.
