In the relentless pace of today’s digital world, browser tabs have become both our productivity partners and our greatest distractions. We keep dozens open: research, emails, dashboards, shopping carts, articles we plan to read later. The result is chaos, fatigue, and browsers grinding to a halt.
Now, Azad Abdullahi, Product Lead at MeclabsAI, has launched Snoozify, a free Chrome extension designed to tackle this everyday struggle. Built as a personal project with heavy help from GPT-5’s coding capabilities, Snoozify lets you “snooze” tabs you don’t need right now and bring them back at the exact right time.
A quick note on MeclabsAI (and why this build is different)
While you can access GPT-5 through MeclabsAI, OpenAI’s Canvas made rapid prototyping more convenient for this particular build. MeclabsAI’s real power is elsewhere: turning IP, services, and processes into AI-accessible experiences and products. Building on MeclabsAI has broadened my perspective on what’s possible with AI, but Snoozify itself is a small, personal experiment in using AI to code and ship quickly, not a core MeclabsAI use case.
Why build my own when snooze extensions exist?
Azad explained that while there are other snooze plugins available, none offered the combination of features he required. He noted that several of the closest alternatives were paid. Snoozify, he emphasised, was created to bring together the exact behaviours he needed, and to make them available for free.
Why Snoozify? The problem of browser clutter
We’ve all been there: 20, 30, even 40 tabs open. You don’t want to close them because they’re “important.” But you also don’t need them right now. The clutter grows, the guilt creeps in, and productivity drops.
That’s where Snoozify steps in, offering a way to press “pause” without losing track. By snoozing a tab, you can set it aside with confidence, knowing it will return exactly when you need it.
How Snoozify works
At its core, Snoozify is about control and timing.
Key features:
-
- One-click presets: Snooze a tab for 1 hour, until tomorrow morning, or next Monday.
- Custom scheduling: Pick the exact minute you want a tab to reappear.
- Repeat snoozes: Automate daily, weekly, or monthly reminders for recurring needs.
- Smart tab history: See what you snoozed and when, without clutter.
- Notes & reminders: Attach quick notes so you remember why you snoozed a tab.
- Badge counter: Optional toolbar badge to track sleeping tabs.
- Dark and light modes: A clean, customisable interface.
- Keyboard shortcuts: Power-snooze without breaking flow.
- Privacy-first: Everything stays local; your data never leaves your browser.
Why it’s a game-changer
By removing the noise of unnecessary tabs, Snoozify helps you focus on what matters most while ensuring nothing gets lost.
Azad Abdullahi puts it simply:
“Snoozify is about giving people peace of mind in a cluttered digital world. My goal was to build a free tool that’s simple, intuitive, and designed to work the way humans think: pausing what isn’t urgent and resurfacing it right on time.”
The bigger story: shipping ideas faster with AI
The most interesting takeaway isn’t just another extension; it’s the new pace of creation. With some AI-assisted know-how, you can ideate, implement, and deploy useful tools faster than ever before. Snoozify is a small proof: a weekend idea that became something tangible and helpful, quickly.
Free and available now
