TikTok-enabled businesses contributed AED 1.1 billion ($299.5 million) to the UAE economy and supported over 7,000 jobs, according to a new report released at the World Government Summit 2026.

Economic Impact Assessment

The report was developed in partnership with Redseer Strategy Consultants and provides the first comprehensive assessment of the platform’s economic impact in the region.

More than 10,000 small and medium-sized businesses were established due to TikTok, while over 70,000 local SMBs currently maintain active presences on the platform, the research found.

“TikTok has become a functional layer of the UAE’s digital landscape,” said Jenan Mohamed Alhashili, Head of Public Policy for the GCC at TikTok. The report shows that one in four creators cited TikTok as the primary reason they began creating content, with many building sustainable careers in media, fashion, music, and entertainment.

Tourism Sector Influence

The platform’s influence extends significantly into tourism, with an estimated 10% of tourist spending in the UAE attributed to TikTok’s impact. In key markets including the United Kingdom and the United States, half of TikTok users reported increased awareness of the UAE as a travel destination through the platform. Among domestic users, 39% said TikTok heightened their awareness of destinations within the country.

Skills Development and Learning

The report also highlighted TikTok’s role in skills development. Twenty-six percent of users cited learning as their primary reason for using the platform, while 75% reported developing professional skills, and 81% said they built personal skills through TikTok.

“The UAE has emerged as a global leader in the digital economy,” said Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications. “We have built strong digital and regulatory foundations while fostering an entrepreneurial environment that enables global platforms to expand their impact.”

Cultural Engagement

The research found that 79% of users said the platform motivates them to share their cultural identity. National hashtags such as #UAENationalDay generated over 200,000 posts and 2 billion views, demonstrating significant cultural engagement on the platform.

The findings underscore TikTok’s evolution from an entertainment platform to a driver of economic activity, entrepreneurship, and digital skills development in the UAE’s growing digital economy.
