Telecom provider du has launched its new 5G+ network in the UAE. The service promises up to double the speed of existing 5G and aims to improve mobile performance across key sectors.

What the Upgrade Brings

The 5G+ rollout is built on 5G-Advanced technology. It delivers faster browsing, smoother video calls, and improved gaming experiences. The network also offers lower latency, making response times almost instant. Customers will need compatible devices and SIMs or eSIMs to access the service.

Coverage Areas

The first phase covers major city centres and landmarks in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other emirates. du has announced plans to expand coverage nationwide before the end of 2025.

Technical Significance

The 5G+ network supports the UAE’s smart city ambitions and digital transformation agenda. It enables real-time services for businesses, governments, and consumers. The upgrade is also expected to boost AI applications, streaming, and other high-demand digital services.

Challenges

Initial coverage is concentrated in urban hubs, leaving some areas to wait for access. Adoption will also depend on how quickly users upgrade to compatible devices and SIMs.

Future Outlook

du plans to expand the 5G+ rollout further across the country. The network will provide stronger infrastructure for innovation, empower startups, and support the UAE’s goal of becoming a leader in digital connectivity.

With the launch of 5G+, du has taken a major step toward redefining mobile connectivity in the UAE. The success of the rollout depends on adoption, infrastructure expansion, and the ability to keep pace with the country’s growing digital needs.
